Tower Rising Into Blue Hour Sky. Shot with Olympus XA-1

Tower Rising Into Blue Hour Sky

A modern residential tower rises sharply from a low-angle perspective, its white and gray facade stretching toward the sky. The blue hour provides perfect lighting—the sky is a gradient from deeper blue at the top to lighter tones near the horizon, while warm lights glow from occupied units throughout the building. A streetlamp appears in the lower right, adding foreground interest and scale.

The Olympus XA-1's compact size makes it ideal for spontaneous architectural photography. The camera's fixed lens keeps the entire tower sharp despite the upward angle. Film's color rendering creates a beautiful contrast between the warm interior lights and the cool twilight sky—a quality that digital often tries to replicate but film achieves naturally. Grain adds texture to the sky gradient and building facade.

Simple architectural photography becomes evocative through film's particular color palette and tonal response—the ordinary moment of dusk made memorable.
